About The Directorate

Skills for Today, Success for Tomorrow

The Mandatory Skills Qualification (MSQ) is a graduation requirement introduced by the NBTE for all Nigerian Polytechnic students. It ensures diploma holders acquire both academic knowledge and at least one certified, industry-relevant vocational or IT skill before graduation.

On completion, graduates receive two certificates: their primary ND/HND, and a National Skills Qualification (NSQ). Students can choose a vertical skill aligned with their core course of study, or a horizontal skill in a completely different field.
