Trainees learn the biology of commonly cultured fish species, pond management principles and modern aquaculture practices that ensure healthy fish growth and maximum productivity. Students gain hands-on experience in pond construction, water quality management, stocking, feeding, breeding, disease prevention, harvesting and post-harvest handling. Practical sessions also cover fish feed selection, record keeping, biosecurity measures and the use of basic aquaculture equipment. Mandatory Skills Qualification (MSQ): completing this skill alongside your ND/HND earns you a National Skills Qualification (NSQ) certificate, per NBTE requirements for all polytechnic graduates.
