Design, Cut and Stitch Your Way to Success! This programme develops practical skills in garment construction for fashion, personal wear and commercial production. Students learn fabric identification, body measurement, pattern drafting and the operation of sewing equipment. Hands-on activities include cutting fabric, sewing different garment styles, fitting, alterations, finishing techniques, decorative stitching and the use of industrial sewing machines. Trainees also gain knowledge of fashion trends, quality finishing and customer measurement techniques. By the completion of the programme, participants will be capable of producing professionally tailored garments for men, women and children. The training prepares graduates for employment in fashion houses or successful self-employment within the garment industry.
Mandatory Skills Qualification (MSQ): completing this skill alongside your ND/HND earns you a National Skills Qualification (NSQ) certificate, per NBTE requirements for all polytechnic graduates. Choose it as a vertical skill if it matches your core course of study, or horizontal if it's in a different field entirely.
