About This Skill

Create Vibrant Fabrics with Traditional and Modern Techniques! This programme introduces students to the creative process of textile decoration through tie and dye, fabric printing and surface design. Trainees learn colour application techniques, fabric preparation and pattern development. Practical sessions include folding, tying, stitching, wax resist, screen printing, dye mixing, colour fixing, washing, finishing and fabric care. Students also learn product design, branding, packaging and quality control for commercial textile production. By the end of the programme, participants will be able to produce unique, high-quality textile products for clothing, interior decoration and fashion accessories. The programme supports artistic expression while providing practical entrepreneurial opportunities.
Mandatory Skills Qualification (MSQ): completing this skill alongside your ND/HND earns you a National Skills Qualification (NSQ) certificate, per NBTE requirements for all polytechnic graduates. Choose it as a vertical skill if it matches your core course of study, or horizontal if it's in a different field entirely.
